Ryan Tveter has been named as Trident’s second GP3 driver for the 2018 campaign, rejoining 2017 team-mate Giuliano Alesi at the Italian outfit.
Tveter competed in 15 races last year, collecting three sprint race podiums at Budapest, Spa and Abu Dhabi as he went on to finish eighth in the drivers’ standings.
The 23-year-old’s finishes were his first podiums in European racing since competing in Formula Renault 2.0 NEC in 2014.
The American also took part in post-season tests for the team last December, having a best of fifth place on the morning of day one at the Yas Marina Circuit.
“We are delighted to have Ryan back on the team for our 2018 GP3 campaign,” team manager Giacomo Ricci said.
“He is a very skilful and precise driver who has a very different background to most drivers in racing at this level.
“Ryan found an environment to thrive in and continue to progress with stellar consistency.”
Tveter is the 12th racer to arrange plans for the upcoming season, with pre-season testing beginning at Circuit Paul Ricard on February 21-22.
