Kari joins MP Motorsport for second GP3 campaign

GP3 race-winner Niko Kari has joined MP Motorsport for his second season in the series after testing with the Dutch outfit in December.

Kari topped two of the three days of post-season testing at Abu Dhabi with its squad before switching to a Campos-run Dallara for the final sessions.

This was MP’s first running in GP3 in DAMS-liveried machinery after taking the French team’s place in the category.

The Finn completed 2017 in 10th in the drivers’ championship while driving for Arden, with one victory at the Yas Marina Circuit.

This was his opening full campaign after a one-off appearance with Koiranen GP at Spa in 2016 in place of Ralph Boschung.

The coming year is his first in GP3 without Red Bull backing after it named its list of junior drivers for 2018.

Kari is the first driver to be announced for MP and joins Campos compatriot Simo Laaksonen and ART’s Callum Ilott and Nikita Mazepin on the grid.
