The 2017 Formula 1 season started with Ferrari’s first victory since the 2015 Singapore Grand Prix. It set the scene for a Ferrari versus Mercedes showdown. Vettel versus Hamilton.
For the first half of the season, fans were gifted with a tough battle for the title between two of the greatest names in the sport at the moment. It was the first time in the new engine era anybody other than Mercedes looked like they had a chance to call themselves champions.
Things went downhill for Ferrari and Vettel after the mid-season break and, as Vettel fell backwards, Hamilton clinched his fourth world championship.
Meanwhile, Force India was impressing everyone with a best of the rest performance, Verstappen was solidifying his position as one of the greats, and Toro Rosso couldn’t decide who it wanted in its car.
