Felix Rosenqvist was handed the win for the second Hong Kong ePrix of the weekend after Audi Sport Abt Formula E team’s Daniel Abt was disqualified.
The barcodes on a few parts on one of Abt‘s cars didn’t match the technical passport Audi filled out before the race weekend began, which the team believes was an administrative mistake.
Celebrating his 25th birthday, it was Abt‘s first race win in FE before race stewards disqualified the German. The team has announced that they will appeal the decision.
“What we are apparently suspected of is an administrative mistake in the car’s passport that didn’t give us any advantage at all,” Audi team principal Allan McNish told Autosport.

“We want the opportunity to be able to clarify all details, that’s why we’ve announced the intent to appeal.
“The person that crossed the line first was Daniel. He drove really, really well, and was there every time there was an opportunity to grab.”
Mahindra’s Rosenqvist was the pole-sitter for Sunday’s race in Hong Kong but span his car entering the first corner at the start, dropping him down outside the top 10.
While the Swede made positions up through the race, rookie star Edoardo Mortara led the majority of the race before spinning himself in the final few laps of the race.
