Alfa Romeo Sauber Formula 1 team has announced Charles Leclerc and Marcus Ericsson as its drivers for the 2018 season.
Sauber, who recently announced a multi-year technical partnership with Alfa Romeo, revealed Leclerc and Ericsson as its 2018 drivers at a launch event in Italy.
Ferrari protegee Charles Leclerc replaces Mercedes junior Pascal Wehrlein after winning this year’s Formula 2 championship and driving in multiple practice sessions for the team.
Leclerc will join Ericsson, who will enter into his fourth year with the team after switching from Caterham at the end of 2014.
The Swede accumulated nine points in his maiden season with the team but has failed to score a point since.
Sauber has struggled with finances and key management departures but it has been put firmly back on track with the announcement of the partnership with the Italian giant.
Antonio Giovinazzi, who was beaten to the second seat by Ericsson, was also announced as the team’s third driver for 2018.
