Hubert demoted in Abu Dhabi GP3 feature results

ART’s Anthoine Hubert has been demoted from eighth to 11th in the results of the GP3 Abu Dhabi feature after being given a five-second time penalty.

The Frenchman finished 35 seconds adrift of winner Niko Kari for four points but was deemed to have applied the throttle prior to using the speed limiter under virtual safety car conditions. Drivers were obliged to remain at 80km/h during this period.

As a result of the time added, Ryan Tveter inherits eighth and reverse grid pole for the sprint race and final event of the 2017 season.

Kevin Joerg is now classified ninth, with Bruno Baptista claiming 10th for a third time this campaign.

The sanction will not affect his position in the final drivers’ championship standings, with Hubert guaranteed fourth place.

He has 117 points, 17 behind Nirei Fukuzumi and 18 clear of Giuliano Alesi, with 17 remaining and a worse countback record than the latter.
