Lando Norris topped both European Formula 3 free practice sessions at the Nurburgring.
He set a 1m21.280s lap in the latter half of the second session, 0.80 seconds slower than his time in the first session.
The Carlin driver was initially challenged by Motopark’s Joel Eriksson, and they swapped the top spot multiple times. Eriksson stopped improving though, and he ended the session down in 17th place.
HitechGP’s Nikita Mazepin ended up second fastest in the first session, almost half a second off Norris, with Joey Mawson and Jake Hughes completing the top four.
Hughes was top for most of the second session, and by session end he was only two tenths off Norris’s time.
Norris’s team-mate Jehan Daruvala was third, with Mazepin rounding out the top four.
Debutants Max Defourney, Sacha Fenestraz and Petru Florescu were in the bottom half of the field in both sessions, with Fenestraz’s 7th place in practice 2 the best result of the trio.
