Rosenqvist takes pole ahead of second race in Berlin

Felix Rosenqvist took pole position ahead of the second race of the weekend in Berlin, with Sebastien Buemi one tenth behind.

The 25-year-old picked up his and Mahindra’s first race in Formula E on Saturday and is now in prime position to win both races in Berlin this weekend.

Buemi will be happy to start on the front row of the grid, with championship rival Lucas di Grassi back on the fourth row in seventh alongside his team-mate Daniel Abt.

Jose Maria Lopez and Sam Bird were the two fastest drivers in the first round of qualifying, but both had issues in the second half of their super pole laps and will settle for the second row of the grid. Jean-Eric Vergne will start fifth.

Nick Heidfeld had issues on his qualifying attempt and was over two seconds behind Nelson Piquet Jr, who was fourth fastest in the first qualifying group.  Maro Engel and Stephane Sarrazin were both knocked out after group two had finished.

Group two saw the two Renault e.dams drivers alongside Abt, Tom Dillmann and Adam Carroll. Dillmann put in a respectable lap but it wasn’t enough at that point to get into the top five.

Buemi and Nico Prost were not far from each other on track and both were quick, with Buemi beating Rosenqvist’s time set in the group before with a 1m08.022. Prost was bumped out of the top five by the time everyone finished their qualifying attempt.

Mitch Evans was very quick in the Jaguar car with the team having difficulties during the weekend. While he didn’t get into the top five he was faster than Prost and his team-mate Carroll who was the slowest in group three.

Oliver Turvey surprised everyone with a 1m08.142s, which moved him into the top five after the end of his qualifying group. Antonio Felix da Costa put in a lap that left him starting the race in 17th.

Loic Duval and Jerome d’Ambrosio qualified 11th and 12th respectively, improving on their qualifying attempt for the first race. Bird and Vergne put in laps that got them into the super pole, knocking out Di Grassi and Turvey.
