Valentino Rossi was left ‘sad’ after a weekend to forget at Catalunya for the multiple time world champion.
Rossi and teammate Vinales had grip issues throughout the weekend, causing both riders to miss out on an automatic place in Q2. The Italian started from 13th and was able to scrape back some championship points by finishing eighth in the race.
Valentino was left disappointed with the outcome of the weekend. Catalunya is notably one of The Doctor’s favourite circuits, with classic victories such as his 2009 epic versus Jorge Lorenzo taking place in northern Spain.

Rossi spoke about his disappointment afterwards, as the team looks forward to tomorrow’s test.
I was really sad today because I won here last year and also it is one of my favourite tracks. We knew it was going to be a difficult weekend, as we had some problems during the practice sessions due to the temperature of the asphalt and the level of grip.
The race today wasn’t positive, but I did my best to take as many points for the championship as possible. Tomorrow we will have an important test, where we will try many things, so this is positive. I hope that for the next two back-to-back races we will be able to return to the front.
Rossi will be looking to improve next time out at Assen, another circuit where he has a successful past.
