Andrea Dovizioso has taken his second victory in a row at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
The Italian, who only had two wins before this season began, followed up his victory at Mugello with another great performance. The Ducati rider faced tough competition from the Repsol Honda duo of Marc Marquez and Dani Pedrosa but was able to manage his tyres and take the victory.
The leading trio at the front never seemed to be under any threat from the chasing pack. This was helped by the fact that the Yamaha Movistar riders of Valentino Rossi and Maverick Vinales continued to struggle. Rossi ended up finishing down in eighth, whilst Vinales finished tenth.
Pedrosa led the majority of the race before Dovizioso pounced once the Spaniard’s tyres had lost grip. This would take Dovizioso to the chequered flag, where he closed the gap to Vinales in the championship to seven points.

Marquez would take second from Pedrosa, a good result considering the struggles the three-time world champion has endured this weekend.
Fourth went to Jorge Lorenzo, who rode extremely well after falling down the order early on. The Ducati rider fought back, taking a well-deserved result. In Fifth was Johann Zarco, who narrowly beat out teammate Jonas Folger in sixth. Seventh went to Alvaro Bautista.
Avintia’s Hector Barbera was able to beat out Vinales to finish in ninth place. Cal Crutchlow was eleventh, with Loris Baz finishing twelfth.
Dovizioso has cemented himself as a genuine title contender with the victory at Catalunya. He’ll be looking to make it three in a row in two weeks time, as the MotoGP paddock heads to the famous Assen circuit and the Dutch TT.
