Rosenqvist very happy with victory in Berlin

Felix Rosenqvist was very happy with his win at the Berlin ePrix, saying that he felt Mahindra had the ‘whole package’ today.

The 25-year-old started the race in third alongside his team-mate Nick Heidfeld. He moved up to second at the start and took the lead from Lucas di Grassi just before the pit stops.

“It feels great, it’s something that we have targeted for a long time now,” Rosenqvist told Read Motorsport. “I think the team prepared a car that was ready to win, I think we had the drivers to be ready to win.

“Yeah we had a bit of bad luck I would say during the year, some small mistakes here and there that didn’t allow us to have a complete weekend that you need to win in Formula E.”

In Paris, Rosenqvist finished fourth behind Heidfeld in third after qualifying seventh and sixth respectively. Three of the last seven races he also finished outside of the points.

“You need the whole package and that’s what we had today and those days you have to go for it. Like today I just knew that maybe the next weekend you don’t have this opportunity. If you want to win you have to go for it.”

When asked whether the circuit suited the Mahindra team, he seemed to agree but also mentioned their performance in Paris.

“Yeah definitely, I mean we were first and third, but still in Paris last weekend we were third and fourth, and I think if we would have had a better starting position for sure we could’ve won that one as well.

“That has been the story for the last couple of races, that qualifying has been a little bit lacking, not really by the car but more tyre knowledge, and I think every race we have been one of the strongest on energy.”

Rosenqvist and the Mahindra team will look to carry on their form going into the second race of the weekend in Berlin.
