Nico Prost has said he will help Buemi’s championship defense if he’s behind him during the last races of the season.
The Frenchman let Buemi through during the second half of the Berlin ePrix on Saturday, the first of two races on the double-header weekend. Prost finished fifth after Buemi was disqualified for illegal tyre pressures.
“It was friendship, you know,” Prost said when asked about letting Buemi past during the race. “Seb and I get along really well. It’s getting difficult for me to fight for the championship. It’s going to be tight for him with Lucas so if he’s behind I’ll help him.
“The team doesn’t need to ask. We’re working for the same team. We’ve been together for three years, it will be another two years. I’m sure if, in the future, it’s the other way round he’ll help me.”

With the two Mahindra drivers finishing first and third, they are both just a few points behind Prost in the race for third overall in the drivers’ championship.
“Mahindra are putting in a really strong show since a few races so we need to up our game. Obviously here they’re really strong and we’re going to have two races, so it’s not the best for us but let’s see.”
Renault e.dams will hope to be in a better position on Sunday. After topping first practice they looked off the pace in the next practice session alongside qualifying.
