Alex Marquez takes second Moto2 pole of the season

Alex Marquez has taken his second pole of the season at Montmelo for the Catalan GP tomorrow.

The Spaniard was almost a tenth clear of Mattia Pasini in second, as the Marc VDS team continue their dominance of the 2017 season. Lining up alongside Pasini on the front row of the grid will be Lorenzo Baldassarri.

Takaaki Nakagami heads up the second row, after a late surge shot him up the order. Joining the Japanese rider on the second row will be championship hopefuls Tom Luthi and Franco Morbidelli, who’ll start from fifth and sixth respectively.

Miguel Oliveria will start from seventh, with Jorge Navarro starting from eighth place. Isaac Vinales will join them on row three, starting from ninth place. Xavi Vierge will start on row four from tenth, with Xavi Vierge and Sandro Cortese starting from eleventh and twelfth place respectively.

The Moto2 riders will start tomorrow at 11:20 BST for an intriguing Catalan GP.
