Martin takes Moto3 pole after Bulega lap cancelled

Jorge Martin has taken pole for the French Moto3 race after Nicolo Bulega’s lap was cancelled.

Martin takes yet another pole after a late surge saw the Spaniard jump up the standings.

Pole position looked to be going to Romano Fenati, with rain falling during the late stages of the session.

However, this wasn’t enough to change times, with the majority of the field leading a late charge to attempt to take pole.

A big group formed, with Nicolo Bulega and Jorge Martin both in it. The pair had the pace, but it would be Martin who would take pole after Bulega exceeded track limits, putting him down into second place.

Martin and Bulega will start from first and second tomorrow and will be joined by Juanfran Guevara on the front row. The second row will be headed up by Fenati, with Albert Arenas and Nicolo Antonelli joining the Italian.

Marcos Ramirez, Joan Mir and Bo Bendsneyder will start from the third row of the grid, with Danny Kent being the final rider inside the top ten. The Briton will head up the fourth row of the grid.

It was a disappointing qualifying for John McPhee, who will start from 25th for tomorrow’s race. The race will get underway at 10:00 BST.
