KTM have announced that Briton Danny Kent will ride at Tuesday’s test at Jerez on their Moto3 machine, before making a wildcard appearance at Le Mans the following week.
This follows Kents split from the Kiefer Racing Moto2 team after the Americas GP. The Briton announced his departure from the team on twitter, citing “irreconcilable differences” between himself and the Kiefer Racing organisation.
KTM team boss Aki Ajo said that “After learning of Danny Kent’s situation in the World Championship, the team, Red Bull and KTM had the joint idea of asking him to test and develop our bike.”

“Danny is a rider who has already been part of our team in the past; we know well how he works and he knows us, and we believe that with his experience he can give us a very interesting point of view for the technical development of our bike.”
Kent has a history with KTM, after riding for the manufacturer on two separate occasions. He first joined KTM fresh from the Red Bull rookies cup, joining Aki Ajo’s factory setup. Then, after a year in Moto2 with Tech3, he returned to the class to ride Ajo’s Husqvarna branded KTM machines.
Kent then went on to win the Moto3 world championship with Kiefer Racing and Honda, before stepping up to Moto2. He again struggled and then left the team after the race at Austin after more poor results.
