Stroll not panicking after loss of afternoon running

Lance Stroll believes there is no reason to panic over losing an afternoon’s worth of running on day two of testing at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.

The 18-year-old lost control of his Williams FW40 at Turn 9, spinning through the gravel trap and damaging the front wing of his car.

Due to a lack of spare parts, Stroll has been unable to take to the track again in the afternoon and thus could only complete 12 laps.

The Canadian is unconcerned about a lack of running and is thinking about just the positives.

“With the spare parts situation, which is there for sure, that has changed the approach a bit,” Stroll said.

“Tomorrow is a new day and we’re just going to put it behind us. We’re all still positive about everything so there’s no need to panic.

“It’s not a dent to the confidence at all, I was actually really confident and really happy with the car in the few laps I did. I’m looking forward to getting back at it tomorrow, there’s plenty of running ahead.”

After missing out on an afternoon’s worth of running, Stroll suggested the schedule may be altered with team-mate Felipe Massa in a bid to make up for lost track time.

“We’re going to try and suit the schedule and figure what’s best for us from this point on from the end of the test.

“It’s not ideal. But things happen to everyone. Unexpected things come up and you just have to deal with them. It’s unfortunate for the team, for me, but this is part of the game.”

Stroll is due back in the FW40 on Thursday.
