Buenos Aires ePrix preview: Can anyone beat Buemi?

Buenos Aires, the capital city of Argentina and the location of the only track to feature in all three seasons of the FIA Formula E Championship.

Drivers and teams alike will be itching to get going after a three-month break, as defending champion Sebastien Buemi looks to extend his lead at the top of the championship, whilst the chasing pack try to hunt him down. The Swiss driver’s team, Renault e.dams find themselves sailing out in front in the teams standings, with both Abt Schaeffler Audi Sport and Mahindra Racing 38 points adrift of the French team.

Two wins from the opening two rounds of the season for defending champion Sebastien Buemi means only last season’s runner-up Lucas di Grassi and Buemi’s Renault e.dams  teammate Nico Prost can possibly overtake him in the championship standings come the end of the Buenos Aires ePrix.

With Buemi taking the opening two races, the other podium places so far this season have gone to Lucas di Grassi, Mahindra Racing’s Nick Heidfeld, DS Virgin’s Sam Bird and Mahindra’s rookie driver Felix Rosenqvist, who claimed his maiden podium last time out in Marrakesh after taking his maiden pole position in qualifying.

Buemi’s teammate Nico Prost has picked up two fourth place finishes in the opening rounds, leaving him third in championship standings.
