Lopez more confident after first Formula E point

Jose Maria Lopez secured his first Formula E point in Marrakesh and has revealed he is now more confident heading into the next round of the championship in Buenos Aires.

Lopez strangely had the experience advantage over the rest of the field this time around as he and Techeetah’s Ma Qing Hau were the only drivers to have previously raced in Marrakesh before. However, practice and qualifying were nervy for Argentine and consisted of tiny errors as he qualified his DS Virgin 13th on the grid.

The race was more positive for the three-time WTCC Champion, as he fought in a tough midfield battle for the whole of the race, working his way up to 10th to secure his first point in the all-electric series.

A positive Lopez had this to say after the race: “my target was to finish and gain more experience, and I finished my second race with a point, so that’s a positive. I’m now confident for our next race in Buenos Aires.”
