The United States Grand Prix is always one of the most exciting races for me, personally. I find myself looking forward to it weeks in advance and if you ask me, yesterday’s race definitely lived up to the expectations I had. My race highlight was seeing Carlos Sainz Jr. battle Fernando Alonso for fifth position. It’s been replaying in my head since I saw it so it’s no surprise that Carlos Sainz Jr. is my Star Driver of the US Grand Prix.

Carlos Sainz Jr. has gone from strength to strength this season and if you were ever in doubt of his talent, he put all of those doubts to rest in the final laps of the race yesterday. If there’s anything I love about Formula One, it’s those moments when your excitement is so strong you can’t help but shuffle forward so you’re literally on the edge of your seat and during the Sainz/Alonso battle I found myself doing just that.

Carlos may not have come out of the battle in front of Alonso but he certainly put up a fight and something else that makes me love F1 is seeing drivers of different ages and experience go head-to-head. Crossing the line in sixth position and an impressive eight points added to his tally, Carlos tweeted about how much he enjoyed his race which is always a pleasure to hear.
Twitter: Totally over the moon with P6 and extremely proud to do it on that way!Great fight with my childhood hero @alo_oficial aswell. #spanishpower (@carlosainz)
It’s fair to say that after this race I will get just as excited for next season’s US Grand Prix. I can’t wait to see Carlos push for positions in the final few races of this season and I wish him the best of luck.
