20 years ago today Damon Hill became the first and currently only son of a previous world champion to go on and win a world championship himself.
After missing out on the world title in the previous two seasons and newcomer Jacques Villeneuve coming in at Williams, off the back of becoming the 1995 IndyCar and Indianapolis 500 champion, the pressure was on Hill to go one better in 1996.
Despite a successful season in which he took eight wins and never qualified off the front row, Damon was dropped by Williams for the 1997 season. He left the team as the second most successful driver in terms of race wins for the team behind fellow Brit Nigel Mansell.
He would go on to drive for Arrows the following year, almost claiming a sensational win in Hungary, before seeing out his career at Jordan, where he won at Spa in 1998 and retired at the end of 1999.
We have put together some of the most iconic photos of Hill from his championship winning season.
