Niki Lauda isn’t concerned by Lewis Hamilton’s behaviour and attitude with the media after various incidents occurred during the Japanese Grand Prix weekend.
Hamilton found himself at odds with most members of the media in Japan after he opted to spend Thursday’s drivers’ press conference on Snapchat instead of giving the gathered media his full attention.
In the following days, the paddock was awash with opinions on Hamilton’s behaviour which led the current champion to tell the media who had gathered after qualifying that he would not be answering any questions as he felt coverage of the Snapchat incident had been disrespectful.
On Sunday, Hamilton took to Twitter to criticise an ‘idiot’ who was responsible for Mercedes lodging a protest against Max Verstappen following his stern defence against Hamilton in the closing stages of the race. This tweet was later deleted by Hamilton.
Despite the apparent bitter feeling towards the media from Hamilton, Lauda does not believe it is a cause for concern.
“Lewis has no pressure from the media, not the other way round,” Lauda told Motorsport.com.
“Sometimes you don’t want to talk, which is fine with me.
“Sometimes you talk more. I think it’s normal for anybody. Even you journalists don’t want to talk every day!
“I think we can sort this all out, I’m not worried anyway. We won a championship, which is the most important thing, which will overcome all this, let’s call it, bullshit talk.”
