After a successful first season in the FIA Formula E Championship, NEXTEV’s form went in the wrong direction during the second season.
During the first ever Formula E season NEXTEV came fourth in the Teams’ Championship, while their main driver Nelson Piquet Jr. was able to win the Drivers’ Championship during the final race.
The second season let teams use their own powertrain, and it became apparent they went down the wrong direction with their development. The sixth place in the opening ePrix at Beijing was their best finishing position of the season, and by the time teams left London they were last out of the teams to take part.
While as a team they didn’t do well overall, they did bring some stability to the team. Piquet Jr. was joined by Oliver Turvey for 2015/16 after the British driver performed well in the final two races of the first season. The two will be teammates again.
