Jenson Button’s Five Greatest Races

Following Jenson Button’s decision to take a step back from his McLaren race seat, we thought it would be the ideal time to take a look back over his 17 season career in Formula One and pick out his five best races.

It certainly isn’t an easy choice – he has entered 301 Grands Prix and tomorrow will be his 298th race start. He has driven those races with six different teams – making his début with BMW Williams in 2000 before switching to Benetton in 2001. This became Renault for 2002 but it was at BAR where he began to make a name for himself.

In 2004 he scored 10 podiums and finished third in the championship, before taking his first win with what became Honda in 2006. The Japanese manufacturer bagged mixed results and pulled out in 2008, giving Ross Brawn the chance to buy out the team for his title winning year in 2009.

After a seven-year stint at McLaren, his time is finally up – at least for now. We may see Jenson fill in as a reserve driver next season and there is a chance he could make a comeback in 2018.

For now, though, here are the five best races of his career so far.
