2016 F1 Mid-Season Review: Red Bull

Red Bull have had an interesting first half of the season to say the least.

After failing to find an alternative power unit provider for 2016, following a disastrous campaign with Renault last season, it looked certain that Red Bull would once again be a distance from the podium this year.

The team rebranded their Renault power units as TAG Heuer as part of a new deal but as the year has progressed the previously frosty relationship has greatly improved.

That’s because significant improvements the French marquee made have helped the team move from the middle of the top ten to challenging for regular podiums and now potentially challenge for victories consistently through the second half of the year.

Red Bull lie in second place in the Constructors’ Championship with 256 points after moving ahead of rivals Ferrari at the Hungarian Grand Prix but still lie 159 adrift of runaway leaders Mercedes.

The second half of the season looks promising for Red Bull as they aim to consolidate their second place and take the fight to Mercedes for race wins in the remaining nine races of 2016.
