2016 F1 Mid-Season Poll: Race of the Year… so far

We are over half through the 2016 Formula One season, we have seen rule changes at almost every race weekend, thrills, spills and unexpected heroes and some choice words but what has been the best race so far?

Those of us here at Read Motorsport have our own differing opinions but we want you to vote and decide.

My favourite so far has to be the British Grand Prix, something about seeing the best drivers in the world struggle to handle the wet to dry conditions had me gripped for the whole race. Plus this race played a pivotal role in the FIA’s decision to abolish the radio ban just two races later.

Ben Issatt opted for the Monaco Grand Prix as it was the first time we saw a proper battle between two drivers for the lead from two different teams. There’s also the glorious challenge of the Monte Carlo streets in the wet, nothing in F1 can match that. Mind you the result didn’t go according to plan as a Daniel Ricciardo fan!

Dave Comerford chose Austria as it was the perfect demonstration of how a mixed-up grid can really spice things up, and there was a bit of controversy right at the death for good measure.

Alice Holloway went for the Russian GP as it was a race she didn’t expect very much from as the 2015 event was quite a boring race but it pleasantly surprised and threw up an intense race.

Finally, Kyran Gibbs revealed Australia was his favourite race. It was the most exciting season opener for quite some time and a race that showcased the new triple tyre compound regulations. Ferrari’s strategy call had chins wagging all the way to Bahrain.

There have been great moments and incidents some drivers would no doubt like to forget from teammate contact to surprise podiums.

Perhaps you think it’s the Chinese Grand Prix which saw all 22 drivers finish the race? Maybe it’s the Spanish Grand Prix where Max Verstappen won on his Red Bull debut? Did you love the tight corners and long straights Baku had to offer?

Whatever the reason for your most enjoyable race this year, whether it be a success for your favourite driver or it had the most overtakes, perhaps you enjoy the thrill of a wet race, we want you to decide so cast your votes below!
