Who was our Star Driver at the German GP?

If there’s anything memorable about the German Grand Prix, it’s the fans. They certainly know how to celebrate!

With so many Max Verstappen supporters in the stands during yesterday’s race, you can imagine the parties that took place after the podium ceremony as Max made yet another podium appearance!

However, his podium finish isn’t what caught my attention yesterday; his maturity did. That’s right! Max Verstappen is my Star Driver, again!

I’ve said it time and time again, Max Verstappen is a very talented driver. Watching him defend a position or fight for one is an incredible show. I’d go as far as saying he’s one of the most exciting drivers on the current grid to watch.

Despite his driving style, I can’t say that I’d ever seen him drive a race purely for his team, before yesterday.

It’s clear that Max has changed and matured since his start in Formula One as he accepted that it was best to allow his teammate the chance to fight for the race win whilst he battled with Nico Rosberg for third. This wasn’t an easy challenge for him as Rosberg fought hard and even pushed Verstappen off track at one point.

A lot of people won’t see the sacrifice in taking third position – it’s still an incredible finish and number of points to add to the tally. There is a three-point difference between the driver who finishes in second and the one who finished in third.

There is a three-point difference between the driver who finishes in second and the one who finished in third. Every point matters, especially in a championship as close as this year. A mere five points separate Max Verstappen in sixth position (115 points) and Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel in fifth (120 points).

If Max had taken second place ahead of his teammate Daniel Ricciardo who took second, that gap could’ve been two points.

During his two years in F1, Verstappen has not only improved his driving massively but he has also matured. He drives for his team and seems very happy to do so.

Congratulations on yesterday’s race, Max! You drove incredibly and displayed maturity. You’re clearly a team player. I have no doubt that you will continue to improve and finish on the podium. I hope you enjoy a very well deserved summer break.
