Marquez aiming for “as many points as possible”

Marc Marquez is hoping for a good result from this weekend’s German Grand Prix at the Sachsenring circuit.

Although Marc Marquez holds a 100% record at the German GP in his MotoGP career he says that his main aim for the weekend is to achieve a podium and “possibly to fight for the win”. As has been the way so far in 2016, Marquez is thinking about the long game and says he hopes to get “as many points as possible” so he can “enjoy the summer break” with his sizeable points gap at the top of the standings still in place after this weekend.

Marquez also stated that the Sachsenring is not his favourite circuit, which is in fact Aragon (a track he has crashed in the past two seasons). He does say though that the German track does suit his riding style because it’s “a bit like a dirt track” (something Marquez is very talented at) as it has a lot of left-hand turns. Previously Marc has said his left-hand turns are stronger than his right-hand turns and that is why he is also so strong at the Circuit of the Americas. He should also be helped this weekend by the fact that his closest title rival, Jorge Lorenzo, has never won the German GP in any class and seems to struggle for raw pace around the circuit.

The “fickle” weather is something that Marquez is worried about for this weekend. He says he the blue sky stays out “at least for the race” probably due to increased risk of a fall in such conditions and the fact that in Assen he might’ve lost big points to Valentino Rossi had it not been for the race being red flagged and then restarted.
