Daniel Ricciardo was left bored by his run to fourth place in the British Grand Prix.
Following a downpour of rain just 15 minutes prior to the formation lap, a safety car start was declared meaning the Red Bull driver would remain in fourth for the opening few laps. Once the race got underway, Ricciardo pitted from that position for Intermediate tyres before his teammate Max Verstappen who was ahead in third.
“I don’t think we made the wrong decision from what it seemed at the time we just got unlucky,” when asked if he would have rather stayed out on full wets for longer.
“We honestly just got unlucky with the Virtual Safety Car it came at the wrong time and we lost more than ten seconds there.”

Ricciardo was then jumped by Sergio Perez under the Virtual Safety Car and would then have to pass the Mexican on the track to regain fourth place.
The Australian was asked about whether it was a hard fought fourth place to which he responded: “Hard fought, not really. I thought that was boring. We got a bit unlucky with the Virtual Safety Car and lost the gap to the leaders and put me in a race by myself. Perez was in front for a little bit but we knew once we cleared him then there was just trying to hope something would happen up front.”
The Red Bull driver will now look ahead to the next race in Hungary where two years ago he secured his second of three Formula One victories so far and will want to restore his place in front of his charging young teammate Verstappen.
