Once again the F1 season hasn’t disappointed, and thankfully with summer approaching, there is a long way to go.
From excellent driving to teammates clashing, shock wins and high-pressure situations, there has been a lot of drama in the season so far, and the result of it is a resounding lead for Mercedes in the team standings and their driver Nico Rosberg ahead of fellow driver Lewis Hamilton in the standings.
Rosberg recently extended his lead in his quest for his maiden title after an effortless performance to secure victory in Baku in the first ever F1 race in Azerbaijan.

The Rosberg/Hamilton rivalry, despite their status as teammates, has been gripping F1 for years. Their lack of appreciation for each other is mutual, with Hamilton openly admitting the friction between the pair is real over the years and that hasn’t changed this season.
That all came to a head in the Spanish GP where the pair were involved in an incident that saw them both crash out in the first lap! It was remarkable viewing for the spectators and was the latest twist in a rivalry that has the sport hooked. Although, they managed to put that incident firmly behind them since and between them have won all the races since Spain.
In terms of the title, successive wins for Hamilton in Monaco and Canada put the Englishman firmly in the picture to gain his fourth world crown, but he undid a lot of that good work with a poor performance in Baku where he ultimately ended up finishing 5th, and with Rosberg winning a 24-point gap was created, which seems a lot given the class of the German this campaign.
However, you can rest assured that Hamilton will be pushing all the way and you can keep on top of the latest odds and news with Betway’s betting promotions, who will have every race covered, including the Great Britain GP which is at Silverstone in early July which will surely inspire Hamilton.

Whilst their rivalry might cause some stress for the powers that be at Mercedes, the results more than back up the decision to have two big drivers working for them. The last two years have seen them come on leaps and bounds in terms of dominating the competition.
In 2014 they emphatically ended the Sebastian Vettel and Red Bull stranglehold that had been so successful and a year later the feat was repeated, with Hamilton bringing home the Drivers’ Championship on both occasions too. This year looks no different, Ferrari led by Vettel and the experienced Kimi Raikkonen are in second place but realistically another Mercedes title is inevitable.
Overall, this season has once again been about Mercedes and their excellent drivers. They have the best car, but their ability to deliver under pressure has been proven time and time again. With the added dimension of the edge between the pair, it makes for great viewing for the fans and it is something that looks set to continue for the coming years.
