Once again, contact ruined Sauber’s Felipe Nasr’s race. The Brazilian started the race 18th but plummeted down the standings after being hit in the rear in the opening lap chaos. From the back of the field, Nasr started his recovery.
“It was a disappointing race for me,” Nasr said. “My race start was ok, but then suddenly in turn 3 I was hit from behind. It was very unfortunate and an unnecessary move. This compromised my race from there on.”
After starting on ultrasoft tyres, Nasr struggled to make up any places. The switch to soft tyres on lap nine improved his lap times, but the Brazilian’s race was still a lonely one.
“I tried my best to recover and in the end I was able to put in decent lap times on the soft tyres.”
The Brazilian has put the disappointing race behind him, though, switching his focus to the next race in Baku.
“That’s how racing goes sometimes but now I look forward to Baku. I am always up for new challenges.
