Nico Rosberg has labelled his Monaco problems as a ‘one-off’. The German has put his difficult race on Sunday down to a number of different factors.
The Monaco Grand Prix started behind the safety car, but when the race got under way for real, a few laps later, it was clear that Rosberg was struggling.
Teammate Lewis Hamilton was the faster of the two Mercedes drivers, but he could not find a way past. Whilst Rosberg held 2nd place, leader Daniel Ricciardo was pulling away from the pack.
Rosberg was suffering from brake and tyre problems and was told to let Hamilton by.
Speaking on Thursday Rosberg believed that he will get his season back on track after a DNF in Spain and a tough Sunday in Monaco.
“Monaco is the most penalising track for having such issues and a difficult result came out of it. But many, many things went wrong.
“From one thing you get a lack of feel and a lack of confidence, which makes me hold back a bit more, then a lack of tyre temperatures. And it’s a spiral like that. Everything went wrong that day.
“But it is positive that they have got them all out of the way and there are only good things to come now.”
Prior to Spain and Monaco, Rosberg had won the opening four races and was walking away with this year’s championship.
Montreal is a track that the German has never won at, but will have to be on top form to topple his teammate and championship rival Lewis Hamilton who is a four-time winner in Canada.
