Hot on the heels of the news that Lucas di Grassi will be staying at Abt Schaeffler, Renault e.dams have confirmed both of their drivers will remain with the team next season.
Sebastien Buemi and Nico Prost will continue their partnership, which last year saw them win the Teams’ Championship, with Buemi missing out on the Drivers’ Championship.
The Swiss driver is currently 11 points behind his championship rival Lucas di Grassi, even though the team were expected to be runaway winners this season.
“Knowing I will be in the Renault eDams car next year is a definite boost at this point in the year,” Buemi says. “I’m totally focused on winning the title this season and knowing that I will be around to potentially defend it is very motivating.
“We’ve got a good thing going: the team has gelled well together, we have strong solid support from Renault and Nico and I are very complementary. Keeping this going as the championship grows is a real positive for the team.”

As part of the Renault e.dams family, team boss Alain Prost confirmed the unchanged lineup for the next season, which includes his son Nico Prost.
“There are some decisions that are hard to make and others that are logical, and this is definitely the latter,” Prost says. “Seb has shown his speed time and time again with two wins so far this year and is fighting for the championship for the second season in a row.
“Nico has demonstrated consistency and has achieved a string of strong results. We can build on this and look forward to a solid end to the year and an even more successful third season together.”
As one of the strongest teams in the series, retaining the drivers for a third season will be a welcome boost heading into the final three races of the current season.
