After a race in China that saw all 22 drivers cross the finish line the start of the Russian Grand Prix came as quite a shock following two collisions involving several cars within the first two corners of the first lap. The remainder of the race followed suit as drivers raced wheel-to-wheel throughout the entire event. Because of this incredible display of racing and talent, it was especially difficult to choose a star driver. However, after a long process of elimination, I have selected Kevin Magnussen as star driver of the Russian Grand Prix.

Magnussen seems to have had quite a quiet start after his return to Formula One this season. However, this weekend, as the drivers took to the Sochi track, Magnussen managed to bring home the first points for his new team, Renault F1 Team. The first point in a new season is exciting for any team, especially one that’s just a major revamp like Renault.
Magnussen achieved his amazing seventh place finish through some very impressive overtaking which allowed him to charge through the pack, finishing an impressive 10 places ahead of where he qualified on Saturday.

If anything is certain after this weekend’s race it’s that Kevin Magnussen possesses some incredible talent which is being put to good use at Renault in their pursuit of points. After completing a race with such an incredible result, I think it’s fair to say Magnussen is one to be watched.
