Massa pleased to have outscored Red Bull

Felipe Massa was happy with his performance after finishing behind his teammate in fifth place at the Russian Grand Prix.

The Brazilian started in fourth place and after being overtaken by the out-of-position Lewis Hamilton, was unable to keep up with the front-runners.

Massa had a relatively quiet afternoon from then onwards, and was pleased that Williams were able to come away with the maximum points they could have achieved.

“I think it was a very positive weekend for us and a very positive race. I would have loved to finish fourth and not fifth, but that’s just part of the game so I’m happy with the result,” he said.

“This weekend was a very good weekend so we need to keep fighting like that. I think for the team the best position was fourth and fifth.

“Valtteri was able to manage the tyres better here, whilst I was able to manage them better in China. That’s the way it goes, but today’s result is very good for Williams.”

Red Bull failed to get any points following Daniil Kvyat’s first lap antics, and the result means Williams are now just six points behind them in the Constructors’ Championship.

“We managed to score a lot more points than Red Bull, and that’s the target for us right now,” he said.

“They have a very good team and a very good car, but we need to keep believing.”
