Kimi Raikkonen set the fastest time ahead of Ferrari teammate Sebastian Vettel in second practice at the Shanghai International Circuit in China.
After spending the majority of the opening half of the session conducting long runs, Ferrari were the last of the teams to send their cars out on low fuel supersoft tyre runs. Vettel went fastest but was soon beaten by Raikkonen by one-tenth of a second.
Mercedes’ Nico Rosberg was third fastest, two-tenths shy of Raikkonen’s benchmark whilst Lewis Hamilton was fourth fastest.

Red Bull’s Daniel Ricciardo was best of the rest in fifth, 1.2 seconds off the pace. Max Verstappen was an impressive sixth ahead of Force India’s Nico Hulkenberg in seventh.
Carlos Sainz, Sergio Perez and Valtteri Bottas rounded out the top 10 positions.
A rear brake issue meant Haas’ Esteban Gutierrez was only to complete four laps whilst Renault’s Kevin Magnussen remained in the garage for the entirety of the session after suffering a puncture which caused significant suspension damage in FP1.
With some showers expected tomorrow, qualifying in China could be a thrilling spectacle. Qualifying gets underway at 0800 BST.
