Rosberg keeping feet on the ground despite excellent start

Championship leader Nico Rosberg says he is taking each race step by step, despite winning the first two rounds this season.

The German is currently on a career-best winning streak, taking victory at the last five Grand Prix’s, including the last three of 2015.

Even though he has a 17 point cushion at the top of the drivers standings to teammate Lewis Hamilton, Rosberg wants to take things slowly but insists there are more victories to come.

“It’s great to start the season in such a positive way,” said Rosberg.

“But I’m just taking things step by step, race by race and targeting a lot more wins to come.

“It’s important to enjoy times like these. I feel very privileged to drive the best car on the grid for the third year in a row and I intend to make the most of it.

“I’m going to China now knowing I can fight for the win, which is a great feeling to have.

Rosberg has fond memories of the Shanghai circuit; it’s where he took his first pole position and race win back in 2012 after 111 race starts.

The now 16-time Grand Prix winner feels he is going into the weekend on a real high, however, although Mercedes have started well, Rosberg admits it would be nice to battle with Ferrari.

It’s especially good in this instance too, as Shanghai is a track with good memories for me,” he added.

“I took my first pole and win there back in 2012, so I head into this weekend on a massive high.

“I’m looking forward to the next battle. We haven’t seen the real Ferrari yet, so it could be a very exciting season ahead.”
