Sam Lowes finishes top of the final Moto2 practice in Texas

Sam Lowes ends the Moto2 free practice 3 at the top of the timesheets after a rain affected session.

Setting the fastest time in FP3 of 2.09.981 sees the Federal oil Gresini rider sit 5th in the combined times for all 3 sessions, his fastest lap being the one set in FP3

Simone Corsi finished the session in second place, on the speed up chassis bike which Sam Lowes won the Circuit of the Americas race on last year, proving that the Speed Up chassis is well suited to the Texan track. Corsi’s fastest lap came in an earlier session which sees him stay second on the combined times with a fastest time of 2.09.744.

Defending world champion Johann Zarco ended the final free practice in a respectable 3rd position behind Corsi, although not looking altogether comfortable on his Kalex, Zarco was another rider who failed to improve his fastest time in the Saturday session, his fastest time so far coming from FP2, a 2.09.760 sees his stay 3rd in the combined times.Dominique Aegerter managed a time to set him 4th in FP3 one place ahead of Jonas Folger, Folger not able to find the pace this weekend which he has shown in the previous races.

Title favourite Alex Rins finished the session in 9th position but a lap time set in the previous practice sessions sees him in front on the combined times. Demonstrating that he has real pace this weekend.

The rain arrived at the halfway point in the session, all riders pitted for a short while, before a few ventured out to assess the tracks grip in the damp conditions. Turn 13 caught out many riders; the first to find the adhesion limit was Simone Corse, losing the front part way round. Zarco was another faller in an almost identical fashion to Corsi. Alex Marquez had a near high side after a warning on the previous corner.

With the weather conditions forecast to be similar to today, it could make for a very interesting race.
