Luck was definitely on the side of Repsol Honda rider Dani Pedrosa who managed to finish on the final place on the podium at the Termas de Rio Hondo in Argentina.
Pedrosa’s race was nearly over as soon as it started as he found himself forced wide as he entered the first corner. Ducati rider Andrea ‘The Maniac’ Iannone, lived up to his name straight away as he ‘threw’ his Ducati down the inside of Turn 1 at the start of the race, he collided with the back of Pedrosa’s teammate Marquez, but then he went wide forcing Pedrosa to react and lose time.

“I had a good start but someone, I didn’t know who, came straight through the first turn and I had to pick my bike up and go wide in order to avoid him. If I had get my line for sure I would’ve crashed, so I went way out and then found myself in the middle of the group. It was very difficult because the lines they were doing were quite crazy and of course I lost a lot of ground there. Anyway, my pace wasn’t good and that’s disappointing, but I tried to keep my line for the entire race.
Of course, it was more than luck that led to the Spanish Repsol Honda rider’s success. Pedrosa, although he was off the pace, remained consistent throughout the race. He stayed on, he plucked away at each lap and looked like he was going to finish further down the leaderboard, however due to four crashes that occurred ahead of him he managed to finish third.
“Finally, this was maybe the luckiest day of my career because many riders crashed in front of me and I was able to take third. Last year I wasn’t even here so it’s positive to be on the podium this time. Anyway, we have to look ahead and keep working hard to improve the bike to be faster.”
