Fenati tops final Moto3 practice

Romano Fenati snatched the quickest time in of FP3 in the final frantic moments of the session. He was the only rider to dip below the 1:50 barrier, setting a best time or 1:49.994.

Brad Binder finished the session in second with a time of 1:50.263. Ominously for his competitors though was the consistency of his race pace. He was able to hammer in times close to his best in quick succession, which looks threatening for tomorrow’s race.

Nicolo Bulega continues to improve and finished the session in third with a time of 1:50.405. Enea Bastianini was fourth just 0.006 behind Bulega, with Philipp Oettl in fifth and Livio Loi in sixth.

Malaysian rider Khairul Idham Pawi was seventh, with Jorge Navarro in eighth, Jorge Martin in ninth and Qatar winner Niccolo Antonelli in 10th. Wherever Pawi qualifies this afternoon, however, he will incur a three place grid penalty, along with Karel Hanika, both for riding too slowly in FP2.

John McPhee’s torrid weekend continues. He had a crash after just his second last lap and spent most of the session in the pits. Although he took to the track again with a few minutes remaining, he was unable to improve on the time he set on Friday and ended the session in 29th. McPhee said that although the track has more grip than yesterday, it’s still very slippery offline.
