Sam Lowes headed the time sheets in FP3, setting a time of 1.59.262, the fastest ever lap for a Moto2 bike in Losail. Thomas Luthi finished the session in second, .211 behind the Brit. Lorenzo Baldassarri rounded out the provisional front row in third.
Marcel Schrotter ended the session in fourth, with Jonas Folger in fifth and defending champion Johan Zarco in sixth. Taka Nakagami was seventh while Malaysian rider Hafizh Syahrin took advantage of a massive tow to hoist himself up to eighth.

Alex Rins had the mother of all moments when he clipped the grass early in proceedings, sending him straight into the gravel trap but remaining on two wheels. He finished the session in ninth position overall, with Alex Marquez rounding out the top 10.
Reigning Moto3 champion Danny Kent made an improvement on his time for the weekend, finishing FP3 in 13th.

Taking combined times into account, Lowes, remains fastest, followed by Luthi, Baldassarri, Schrotter, Folger, Rins in sixth, then Zarco, Nakagami, Syahrin, and Franco Morbidelli in 10th and Kent in 15th.
That was the final practice session for the Moto2 riders. Qualifying will take place at 15.55 GMT on Saturday.
