Team Aguri have announced ahead of the Mexican ePrix this weekend a new title sponsorship with the oil company Gulf.
With the appointment, the cars will be repainted in the familiar Gulf motorsport colours of light blue and orange. They have a long history in many forms of the sport, although it is the first time in electric motorsport.
This weekend will also see Mexican Salvador Duran returning to the team for his home race after a short and difficult stint at Trulli, bringing Telcel backing with him. Driving once again alongside him is Antonio Felix de Costa.

“Gulf has a long history of success in motorsport, and, through IF Vertical 2’s exciting initiative in Mexico we are delighted to see Gulf make its debut in FIA Formula E with Team Aguri to continue our heritage of racing excellence,” said Gulf vice president Frank Rutten.
“Our participation in this event maintains Gulf’s long history of being at the forefront of innovation in all aspects of our business.
“The move reflects the changing focus of the automotive industry, with manufacturers increasingly focusing on the development of electric and hybrid vehicles. The Gulf brand’s involvement in Formula E will put us at the forefront of these developments.”
Gulf has recently been linked to a Formula One sponsorship deal with Force India, had the relationship with Aston Martin come to fruition.
The brands appearance in Formula E comes at a time when a number of established motorsport brands are being attracted to the all-electric series including Jaguar next season, along with Citroen DS and Audi this season.
