2016 F1 Season Preview – Haas

Formula One welcomes the newly-formed American team Haas to the sport in 2016.

The team was established by NASCAR Sprint Cup Series team co-owner Gene Haas in April 2014. Originally, they had plans to compete in the 2015 F1 season but delayed this by one year to ensure the team would be competitive enough and operationally, be suitable to compete in the pinnacle of motorsport.

Following the collapse of Marussia F1 Team in late-2014, Haas purchased the team’s Banbury HQ to act as a base for their development and operations in the United Kingdom. Their main HQ is in Kannapolis, North Carolina.

Haas confirmed former Renault/Lotus driver Romain Grosjean as their first driver alongside former Sauber and at the time, test and reserve driver for Scuderia Ferrari. Haas’ close ties with Ferrari provides them with a solid platform to perform in F1.

In the slides below, we take a look at both Grosjean and Gutierrez, what to expect from Haas, evaluate their pre-season testing campaign and predict where they will finish in the constructors’ championship.
