Hamilton hits out at new Halo device

Current World Champion Lewis Hamilton has hit out at the new halo safety driver safety device after it was tested for the first time today on Kimi Raikkonen’s Ferrari.

Hamilton took to Instagram to voice his concern branding the potential new addition “the worst looking mod in Formula 1 history.”

“Please no! This is the worst looking mod in Formula 1 history. I appreciate the quest for safety but this is Formula 1, and the way it is now is perfectly fine.” Said Hamilton on Instagram.

Nico Rosberg, Hamilton’s Mercedes teammate had a contrasting opinion, stating that he was “all for it.”

“MY OPINION: Massive safety improvement. It will look ok too eventually. I’M ALL FOR IT!” Rosberg posted onto his Twitter account.

The new Halo concept comes as a result of calls to improve driver safety following the deaths of Indycar driver Justin Wilson and Formula One driver Jules Bianchi, who both suffered fatal head injuries.
