Haas F1 team have been forced to stop their testing session prematurely for the second day in a row.
During testing on Tuesday a fuel system problem meant Esteban Gutierrez could only complete 23 laps, with today’s session halted early because of a turbocharger failure.
The team to abort their testing early for the second consecutive day because the replacement turbo ran too high with its rpm during this morning’s installation lap.
Analysis provided by power unit supplier Ferrari to gain knowledge of the issue and replace the faulty component has proven to be a lengthy ordeal, leaving the team’s owner Gene Haas “very frustrated.”
Gutierrez has completed just 24 laps over the two days of testing and with Romain Grosjean scheduled to be in the car for Thursday and Friday’s sessions, Haas may look to alter their testing programme.
“We did one race simulation last week. If we can do another race simulation that would be good, we still have to practice pitstops. There’s a lot to get done.” Haas said.
“It would be better to balance things out and to give each driver some more time.”
