Ferrari team principal Maurizio Arrivabene has insisted Ferrari have no engine problems despite reliability issues that have hampered both theirs and customer team Haas’s pre-season tests.
With both Ferrari and Haas suffering similar issues last week rumours began to surface around the Ferrari power unit but after a strong finish these soon dissipated.
However, yesterday during the first day of the second test speculation was once again rife surrounding the reliability of the new Ferrari power unit. Even the Haas team principal Gunther Steiner suggested he wasn’t sure if the issues his team has faced are down to their inexperience or a wider issue with the Ferrari power unit.
Speaking to Motorsport.com Arrivabene was adamant and short in his response when asked about Ferrari’s reliability.
“Ferrari does not have an engine problem,” he said. “I can say that officially.”
With a little over two weeks to go until the first race of the season, Ferrari will need to investigate the problems they have suffered and find solutions to ensure they don’t start the new season too far behind Mercedes.
