Rio Haryanto will reveal his plans for 2016 at a press conference in Indonesia on Thursday alongside his long-term sponsors Pertamina.
Haryanto will announce that he will be driving for Manor in 2016, this comes after months of negotiations between Haryanto’s advisors and Manor.
The deal had stalled when Manor requested Haryanto sponsorship to pay 15 million euros to get him the drive, with Pertamina only contracted to pay 5.2 million euros in sponsorship, this proved to be a sticking point until the Indonesian government stepped in and agreed to cover any shortfall in Haryanto’s sponsorship.
It has been reported by several media outlets over the last 24 hours that the 2015 Manor driver, Will Stevens will not continue in his role in 2016 which paves the way for the appointment of Haryanto.
Rio Haryanto has spent the last four year’s in GP2, finally earning himself a call up to Formula One after his best ever season in 2015. Scoring three victories and five podiums.
