Renault has announced it is to partner with the eDAMS team in Formula E for at least the next two seasons, as part of a wide-reaching motorsport programme.
At what was billed as the launch of the new Renault Sport Formula One Team, the French manufacturer confirmed they had reached a commitment in the Formula E series, of which it was a founding member for another two years.
Its partnership with eDAMS has been extremely successful, winning the teams championship in the first season, and looking like the team to beat in season two with drivers Nico Prost and Sebastien Buemi.
As part of the wider Renault Sport brand, there will be a further alignment between the Renault Sport road car and motorsport divisions with technologies developed in motorsport shared for the road.
Fred Vasseur, who will now take up the Racing Director role at the Formula One team, was also a founding member of the Formula E programme. He through Spark Racing Technologies supplies the chassis to all the Formula E teams.
