Formula E is looking to expand its reach even further in its third season, with a race in the Middle East possible.
In an article by Autosport, series CEO Alejandro Agag gave some clues as to what we can expect for season three, due to start later this year.
For the first two seasons many late changes have been made to the calendar, something he wants to change for next season by bringing out a firm calendar in March.
“The deadline to submit the calendar is in June but we want to push it as much as we can and trying to put it in by March,” Agag said to Autosport.
The first season saw Rio de Janeiro dropped and Moscow added relatively late, while this current season saw Mexico announced only recently for a March race date. Question marks are also over the race in Berlin with the previous location at Templehof Airport currently used to house refugees, and the London race which still needs to be approved.
While these initial races are resolving their teething problems, the series will expand slightly each season. This is give the opportunity for another couple of races next season, a number of which have already been suggested.
Montreal has been linked to a race, along with an event in Australia, Hong Kong, Brazil, Switzerland and Tokyo.
Agag also suggested a couple of venues in the Middle East were being considered, although Beijing would remain the season opener.
