Following the Lotus takeover and return of long-term Formula 1 marque, Renault have ‘no chance’ of a return to the podium in 2016 argues French racing driver, Jean Alesi.
The French manufacturer has confirmed to the public that it will be returning to Formula One as works Renault team for the first time since 2011, where Enstone outfit Lotus took-over.
Financial turmoils mid-way through the 2015 F1 season meant Lotus allowing the eminent Renault F1 takeover which would be the best way out of the ‘frightening’ situation, which looked to have affected the team in the latter part of the 2015 Formula 1 season.
However, the two-time Formula 1 World Champions have been tipped to have a ‘bitter-sweat’ 2016 season, as Jean Alesi claims 2016 would be a year of consolidation and building a foundation.

Despite Jean Alesi’s claims of chances of podiums ‘near impossible’ for 2016, he bids on more success for Renault in the long-run.
“This is very important for [France] because we used to have in the past Grands Prix,
“And now with the comeback of Renault, not only for the next year but for the long-term future, it will be very helpful for France.
“No chance (of podiums) in 2016 – they have to re-create the team and it is going to be a transitional period.”
