Jaguar Land Rover look set to announce their entry into Formula E next week according to Sky News.

Britain’s biggest car manufacturer will reportedly reveal all in a press conference scheduled for next Tuesday.

JLR would join the likes of Renault and Audi in the newly launched motorsport, now into its second season.

Many car manufacturers are using the series to develop and hone electrical technology for use on their mass production vehicles and reports suggest Jaguar Land Rover are planning something similar.

A source has claimed that the above is the driving force behind the company getting involved with Formula E.

It offers live testing for electrification technologies in areas such as batteries and drive-trains; that’s why it looks valuable to them.

It looks like JLR will launch their Formula E presence in conjunction with Williams, who are well known for their long-standing presence in Formula One.

Jaguar have of course been in Formula One themselves, many years ago.

The company’s then owner, Ford, sold the team to Red Bull, who of course went on to make history in the sport.

Formula E heads to Uruguay on December the 19th for round three of the season.
